Rhody Wave Runners Travel Softball

The Westerly Girls Softball League has travel softball teams available for competitive players.

The Rhody Wave Runners look to get back in action in the summer of 2020 at the 8u, 10u, 12u & 14u level!

Rhody, Rhody, Rhody.....Wave Runners!

The Westerly Girls Softball League is fortunate to offer travel softball opportunities outside of the recreation league to our players at the 8u, 10u, 12u and 14u level.    This experience is great for skill development, it builds friendships, and exposes our players to a competitive atmosphere around the state. There are many players in our league who have benefited from this experience.

Travel opportunities can start with a limited schedule for our younger age groups (8u & 10u) and build as the players mature and gain more experience in the game.  Our two older divisions (12u & 14u) are for our more competitive recreational players.

Although there is a fee associated with this, the league is able to offset the majority of the cost due to outstanding fundraising opportunities from the parents and players involved year after year at the Bash on the Beach Tournament in July.

If you are interested in attending a tryout for one of our age groups (8u, 10u, 12u, 14u) please fill out the form HERE .  Once we have enough players identified for an age group, the WGSL Board will organize a tryout.   If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact a WGSL board member.

What to expect if my child makes a WGSL travel team?

This can vary depending on the age group.  This committment is usually two to three practice a week leading up to a tournament.  Tournaments are typically held during the weekend and consist of three to four games.  Travel coaches, under the WGSL board guidance, may enter as many tournaments as they budget for with the league.  Our younger ages may choose to only enter one or two tournaments just to give our players exposure.  Some teams may want to schedule more weekend tournaments.  The tournament season is typically during June, July and August.   There are fees associated with players that make a team.  Please note, that not all players attending a tryout are guaranteed a spot on a team.
